The golden years of “torture porn”, with the Saw (2004) and Hostel (2005) sagas as the main referents, might be in the past. But every now and then we can get a title which has been inspired by the subgenre that brings some new gory sickness to the screens. Daddy’s Girl (2018) is one of those titles, and it is soon out on-demand.

Also strongly influenced by the #MeToo movement, Daddy’s Girl (2018) is the story of a young woman who held captive by her stepfather and becomes the focus of a female vigilante and a rookie cop. When the father is identified as a serial killer their attempts to rescue the woman backfire, resulting in a terrifying confrontation with the killer.

Daddy’s Girl (2018) was directed by Julian Richards, also responsible for movies like Silent Cry (2002), The Last Horror Movie (2003), Shiver (2012), and Reborn (2018) among others. It was written by Timothy Hill, with some additional writing by Sean Hogan (The Devil’s Business (2011), Little Deaths (2011)). Jemma Dallender, Costas Mandylor, Britt McKillip, Jesse Moss, Mark Arnold, Diana Care, Micavrie Amaia, and Annie Quigley form the main cast.

For the last couple of years, Daddy’s Girl (2018) has been part of several genre international film festivals like Raindance Film Festival, Fantasporto, Night Visions International Film Festival, Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, and Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. The movie can already be found on DVD, and it is scheduled for an on-demand release on October 5, 2020. Here you can watch its official trailer.
