Happy Times (2019) is a horror comedy film from the USA and Israel that had its world premiere at the Haifa Film Festival in Israel where it was nominated to Best Film and won the Best Script award at the official festival competition. It got a quite good reception by critics and audience thanks to its quotidian situations all drenched up with bloody murderings, with a comical touch surrounding the horrific happenings.
In the movie, over the course of a Shabbat dinner at a fancy Hollywood Hills mansion, a toxic mix of alcohol, egos, cultural differences, lust and greed derails the evening rather quickly and things spin out of control. Secrets are revealed, relationships are tested and getting out in one piece will be the ultimate challenge.
Happy Times (2019) is directed by Michael Mayer (no, not the murderer at Halloween nights), known for his debut film, the multi-awarded gay-themed drama thriller Out in the Dark (2012). He has also been the author of the screenplay of the movie, together with Guy Ayal, who collaborated with the director in his short film Fireworks (2011). Shani Atias, Michael Aloni, Iris Bahr, Stéfi Celma, Sophia Santi, Kevin Thoms, Guy Adler, Griffin Kramer, Liraz Chamami, Rigo Obezo, Mike Burstyn, Alon Pdut, Daniel Lavid, and Ido Mor star.
The first official trailer for the movie has been released this past weekend and you can watch it here:
