Get Out (2017) was one of the best surprises in the genre of horror and mystery of last year. And not only for being the debut film of writer and director Jordan Peele, a former comedian with quite an extense career in movies, stand-up and TV. The movie, winner of an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and an everlasting list of other awards, was a new twist in the genre of psychological horror with a good dosage of social racial conflict and a perfect dominion in storytelling that kept the audience glued to their chairs wherever it was screened. After digesting the surprise Get Out (2017) happened to be, the question was if Jordan Peele would remain in the genre of horror, or if he might go back to his comedy roots. Since his next project Us (2019) was announced, that doubt dissipated and it became one of the highest expected movies of the upcoming year.
In Us (2019), a mother and father take their kids to their beach house, expecting to enjoy time with friends, but their serenity turns to tension and chaos when some visitors arrive uninvited. Jordan Peele writes and directs this Monkeypaw Productions and Universal Pictures production. Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, Evan Alex, Shahadi Wright Joseph, Elisabeth Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Anna Diop, Kara Hayward, Tim Heidecker and Nathan Harrington star.
