Although technically, the movie The Dark Tower (2017) is more like a remake for the Stephen King novels, since its plot starts when the last of the 8 books end. The film is directed and co-written by Danish filmmaker Nikolaj Arcel, known for his sublime scripts for the original Swedish adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2009) and series of films about the Q Lost Cases, which he also has directed. The Dark Tower (2017) show how the Gunslinger, Roland Deschain, roams an Old West-like landscape where “the world has moved on” in pursuit of the Man in Black. Also searching for the fabled Dark Tower, in the hopes that reaching it will preserve his dying world.
The movie is starred by Abbey Lee, Katheryn Winnick, Matthew McConaughey, Idris Elba, Jackie Earle Haley, Alex McGregor and José Zúñiga, and will hit theaters worldwide this very summer. The author of the original novels Stephen King has already had the privilege of seeing the movie, and he made public to be very pleased with the result.
