Painter (2020) is a psychological thriller about a wealthy art collector’s obsession with a young painter that develops into a psychosexual relationship fueled by jealousy and delusion.
The movie is set in the contemporary art world of Los Angeles, USA. Joanne Marco, a wealthy art collector and benefactor, has been searching for an artistic genius. When she discovers a young, unknown painter named Aldis Browne, she becomes obsessed with him and his talent. Joanne invites Aldis to move into her mansion where she can watch over him and foster his talent. When Aldis’ first solo show is deemed a critical failure, Aldis flees Joanne’s home and the city. But Joanne swiftly lures him back with a frightening gift from his past.
Cory Wexler Grant debuts as a writer and director with Painter (2020). The main cast is formed by Betsy Randle, Eric Ladin, Casey Deidrick, Cinthya Carmona, Susan Anton, Patrick Gorman, Endre Hules, Gregory Zarian, and Anastasia Leddick as the mysterious character Stocking Face.
