Ben Affleck confirms once again he will direct The Batman

Since Ben Affleck was chosen to be the face of the newest incarnation of Batman, there has been rumors that sooner or later he would also direct one of the caped crusader’s film. And although Zack Snyder is the one behind the episodes Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017), it seems to be pretty sure that Ben Affleck will take the reigns of a future Batman adventure.

Affleck is at this moment touring promoting his latest work, Live by Night (2016), where he has taken the roles of producer, writer, director and main star. It was at Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show when he was asked once again if he would direct the new Batman. And yet, he said the words he seems to be so tired of repeating over and over again: “I’m gonna direct the next Batman, we’re working on it”.

What is more uncertain is when will his project get the green light. Aparently, Affleck is working in the script himself, together with the current installments screen writer Geoff Johns. But at the moment Warner is focused on getting Justice League (2017) ready for release, which rumors say it’s not being a very easy job. The film, which is expected to come out at the end of the year, is taking the dimensions of a disaster. If Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) swam in the seas of mediocrity, fears for the new movie to be a disaster start to circulate on the net. And that is bad news for Warner and DC, since this project was expected to be their big hit of the year. Zack Snyder, who showed good potential with his films Dawn of the Dead (2004) and Watchmen (2009) seems to have lost his way.

We will have to wait to see who is right. If Ben Affleck finally gets the chance to direct his long wanted Batman, or if the sinking ship that is this new franchise ends up burying any expectations of a decent dark knight adventure anytime soon.
