Not even 24 hours past after the release of the first official trailer for Blade Runner 2049 (2017) and everybody is already talking about it. “Epic” and “promising” are the most used adjective. Because after seeing the new images one can have the feeling director Denis Villeneuve has used everything in his hands, all the experience achieved in his previous works and the amount of fantastic imagery present in the “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” short story by Philip K. Dick to create a version of the future that awaits for us. As decadent as mechanical, as beautiful as apocalyptic.
The sequel for Ridley Scott classic Blade Runner (1982) will be something big, that’s for sure. In case there is somebody who doesn’t know, the plot description by Warner Bros. reads “Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K‘s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years”. The film is starred by Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Dave Bautista, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Mackenzie Davis, Jared Leto and Edward James Olmos, and written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green.
