A decade ago, a little simple film-noir piece from the debutant J Blakeson made its way into the always complicated world of cinema. With a very minuscule cast consisting of only Gemma Arterton, Eddie Marsan and Martin Compston, the movie told the story of a rich man’s daughter is held captive in an abandoned apartment by two former convicts who abducted her and hold her ransom in exchange for her father’s money.

The movie had a not very extense festivals run but it still managed to achieve a few awards. It also became a piece of worship for cinema lovers and a good example to follow for new filmmakers in order to create an effective movie with very little budget and locations. In 2014, the film was subject of a Dutch remake by Joram Lürsen entitled Reckless (2014).

This year, a new remake of the film, this time coming from Germany, has been developed. Kidnapping Stella (2019) is the name of the movie, written and directed by Thomas Sieben, an awarded German filmmaker. On the film, the action is carried by Jella Haase, Clemens Schick and Max von der Groeben.

Netflix has achieved the distribution rights for the movie, although it is possible that it is not available in all the territories (due to language configurations). The official release date for the movie on the 12th of July, so check your Netflix app for further information. At the same time, the official trailer for the film is out, in original German version, and you can watch it here:
