Now that La La Land (2016) was the protagonist of the past Golden Globes making history winning 7 awards including Best Movie, we are going to find musicals just like a bad penny. And so far, the machinery is already in movement with the production of one project called “Anna And The Apocalypse“.
The story for this zombie survival musical is about a young girl Anna who together with her friends will have to fight, sing and dance against a zombie attack running away to a safe place. But they don’t know if their families and friends are still alive, or if they face them as part of the flesheaters. A pretty common plot for a zombie survival flick, but surelly unexpected in the musicals genre.
The film will be the full length version of the BAFTA winning short movie Zombie Musical (2010), written and directed by Ryan McHenry. McHenry himself wrote the feature film script but died in 2015 at the age of 27. John McPhail, director of the internationally acclaimed romance comedy Where Do We Go From Here? (2015) will take the director’s seat.
The shooting already started in Glasgow , Scottland. Ella Hunt takes the lead role, together with Mark Benton, Paul Kaye, Malcolm Cumming, Sarah Swire, Christopher Leveaux, Ben Wiggins and Marli Siu among others. Well, we will have to keep an eye to this project and see how it turns out. So far looks promising for a few laughs and lots of tunes.
