With a little delay, and after receiving praise in the underground and festivals circuit thanks to its strong special effects, the horror The Curse of Willow Song (2020) is finally getting its release on DVD and digital.
The movie centers on Willow Song, a recovering addict and parolee, who struggles to start over. Willow finds herself in a concrete wasteland. Facing isolation and displacement, shadows creep into Willow’s mind and her nightmares become too real.
Valerie Tian, known for her supporting roles in Juno (2007), Jennifer’s Body (2009), and Even Lambs Have Teeth (2015), plays the lead role in a performance that brought her several awards and nominations. Elfina Luk, Ingrid Nilson, Adam Lolacher, Amanda Burke, Johannah Newmarch, Natalie Grace, Simon Chin, Dejan Loyola, Nelson Leis, and David James Lewis also star.
The awards-winner Karen Lam is the producer, writer, and director of The Curse of Willow Song (2020) for which she achieved the Best BC Film award at the Vancouver International Film Festival and the Festival Award for Best Director at the Sick Chick Flicks Film Festival. She is also known for the horror thrillers Stained (2010) and Evangeline (2013) and the anthologies 7 from Etheria (2017) and Shevenge (2019).
Keith Leopard, the president of Uncork’d Entertainment, the distributor of the film, has stated that “The Curse of Willow Song (2020) has so much to offer.
