There’s Someone Inside Your House is a horror novel published on September 12, 2017, by Dutton Books and written by American author Stephanie Perkins, also known for her best sellers Isla and the Happily Ever After, Anna and the French Kiss, and Lola and the Boy Next Door. Now, the book is having a film adaptation that will see the light in October.
There’s Someone Inside Your House (2021) centers on Makani Young, who has moved from Hawaii to quiet, small-town Nebraska to live with her grandmother and finish high school. But as the countdown to graduation begins, her classmates are stalked by a killer intent on exposing their darkest secrets to the entire town, terrorizing victims while wearing a life-like mask of their own face. With a mysterious past of her own, Makani and her friends must discover the killer’s identity before they become victims themselves.
Patrick Brice has been in charge of the direction of the film adaptation. He is known for his independent hit horror films Creep (2014) and Creep 2 (2017), and the bigger budget comedies with a mystery and horror touch The Overnight (2015) and Corporate Animals (2019). Henry Gayden, the writer of blockbusters Earth to Echo (2014) and Shazam! (2019), has adapted the novel into the screenplay.
The cast for There’s Someone Inside Your House (2021) is filled with a collection of young upcoming stars including Sydney Park, Sarah Dugdale, Kayla Heller, Théodore Pellerin, Burkely Duffield, Emilija Baranac, Markian Tarasiuk, Asjha Cooper, Dale Whibley, Diego Josef, Anthony Timpano, and Tedra Rogers.
The movie is a production by Netflix, James Wan’s Atomic Monster, and 21 Laps Entertainment, responsible for Denis Villeneuve’s Arrival (2016) and Stranger Things (2016–) TV series. It is set to premiere at Fantastic Fest in September 2021, and later it will be available on the Netflix catalog on October 6, 2021.
