Most of you will agree that so far, the most long-awaited Netflix Originals movie until now is Duncan Jones’ Mute (2018). In part because this movie has been in development for already a couple of years, and since the very beginning all the comments and images that leaked from the production were showing that this could be a visually rich little piece, a gift for the eyes. And also, because there are very high expectations to see what could make the man that signed two of the most spectacular science fiction titles of the last decade, Moon (2009) and Source Code (2011).
Mute (2018) is situated in Berlin, forty years from today. A roiling city of immigrants, where East crashes against West in a science-fiction Casablanca. Leo Beiler, a mute bartender, has one reason and one reason only for living here, and she’s disappeared. But when Leo‘s search takes him deeper into the city’s underbelly, an odd pair of American surgeons seem to be the only recurring clue, and Leo can’t tell if they can help, or who he should fear most.
This is a story written by Michael Robert Johnson and Damon Peoples with the final script by director Duncan Jones. The main cast has names like Alexander Skarsgård, Paul Rudd, Justin Theroux, Seyneb Saleh, Gilbert Owuor, Robert Sheehan, Nikki Lamborn, Noel Clarke, Daniel Fathers and Florence Kasumba.
Netflix has Mute (2018) scheduled to be released worldwide as part of their Netflix Originals catalog in merely one month, the next 23rd of February. And to warm up the motors, the first trailer is already here:
