For the 40th anniversary of the movie the "Alien" universe is expanding

After Disney bought 20th Century Fox they have been working on giving a new life to the Alien franchise, and this year that marks the 40th anniversary of the original movie Alien (1979) seems to finally be the moment when those new projects are going to see the light.

Last month, the official Instagram account of the movies franchise published a series of images and clips showing the Weyland-Yutani facilities and the researches they are doing on the creatures from another planet. A so-called “6-part dossier exposing the secret of Weyland-Yutani”, and with the headline “The Alien universe expands 2019”. Day 1: Arrived at the facility. Weyland-Yutani has poured massive resources into this orbital facility. I’ve come to investigate rumors about accidents in a secret research program –

Day 2: The facility is hiding a terrible secret. Highly aggressive mega-parasites with corrosive blood. They’re breeding them, using them for research –

Day 3: Breeding program is a house of horrors. They’re torturing and killing people, using them as hosts for the larvae. Where did these people come from? –

Day 4: The experiments aren’t just in the lab. Company is sending the larvae somewhere. They’re using their own private military to move them –

Day 5: It’s worse than I thought. They are dropping these payloads on the planet below. What is the company’s aim? –

Day 6: It’s a nightmare. They have infested and destroyed the Weyland-Yutani colony below. Killing all of the facility’s personnel. We have to expose this. I know they’ll try to discredit me. Or worse –

Rumors say the executives they are working on a release this year of a sequel of the videogame Alien: Isolation (2014), set 15 years after the events of Alien (1979), were gamers play as Ripley‘s daughter Amanda Ripley and embark on a mission to find her missing mother and the rest of the Nostromo crew. Also, Disney is working on the official TV series based on the Alien franchise to be part of their streaming platform designed to compete with Netflix.

Last weekend the official Twitter account of the Alien Anthology made public a clip with the caption “Read. Play. Watch”, with footage from the original movie and the presence of Amanda Ripley. 2019 just only began but it seems that it is going to see the year of the Xenomorph.
